Activities

Students who participate in Destination Imagination choose a project-based challenge and work as a team assessing the challenge.  These challenges teach students 21st century skills needed to succeed in school, careers, and beyond.  Student from around the world participate in Destination Imagination.​

Do you enjoy acting? Speaking? Improv? Storytelling? Then you should join the da Vinci Forensics team! Students in 6th - 8th grade can compete in Forensics.  As a member, you will choose a category and travel to tournaments around the state competing with your piece to earn blue ribbons, individual medals, team trophies, and the chance to compete at the State competition! Categories include: group acting, solo acting, poetry, storytelling, infomercial, news reporting, persuasive or informative speaking, and more! You can choose to act alone, or with a group, depending on the category you choose. We have had students tell stories like The Cat in the Hat, and Miss Nelson is Missing. We had groups perform scenes from Frozen, The Little Mermaid, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. A couple students wrote and performed an original infomercial for Red Bull, and another performed a mix of original and non-original poetry. The choice is yours! But if you love to perform, or just want to improve your public speaking skills, Forensics is for you! This is what some of our team members have to say about it:

Leonardo da Vinci is proud to offer 6th-8th grade students an opportunity to be a part of the National Junior Honor Society. NJHS “is the nation's premier organization, established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.” ~National Association of Secondary Principals. 

To qualify for NJHS at Leonardo da Vinci, students must complete two consecutive semesters with a 3.5 GPA or above, complete five hours of community service, as well as demonstrate Leonardo da Vinci's Learner/Leader Qualities. Once inducted, students must maintain a 3.5 GPA, complete 10 hours of community service per academic year, as well as continue to be an upstanding Learner/Leader.

The PI Day 5K is a 5k run/walk held every March in honor of PI Day.  The event is organized by fifth grade students who design the t-shirt, create sponsorship levels, meet with city and county officials, map out the race route, and sign up runners.  The altruistic fifth grade students wanted to give back to the community and voted on donating proceeds to the Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity.  Funds raised thus far:

The Leonardo da Vinci running club is an extracurricular activity for students in grades 3-8. Meeting twice per week after school. While running promotes a healthy body and mind, students will have the opportunity to train for the Cellcom 5K and the Bellin 10K if they desire.

Students at Leonardo da Vinci School learn economic concepts first hand by taking part in a token school economy.  The students are able to earn "Leader Loot" for making appropriate choices and accomplishing tasks.  Leader Loot can then be deposited in the bank or used at the school store.

Come visit The National Bank of Vinci!  This student-run bank is open for business each week for students to deposit and withdraw their leader loot.  Students learn to write checks as well as keep and balance a register as part of their base team.  Then, The National Bank of Vinci's tellers and administrative team assist students with deposits and withdrawals when they visit the bank.

The student-managed da Vinci Galleria is open for business!  Students are welcome to spend their Leader Loot to purchase a variety of items.  Raffle baskets, grab bags, coupons for special recesses, books and trinkets are some of the most popular items sold at the store.  Save up your Leader Loot and visit out store!  We would love to see you!

SeaPerch is a STEM program that is promoted across the country by the United States Navy. Leonardo da Vinci School for Gifted Learners has participated in the local SeaPerch chapter since its creation during the 2014-2015 school year. Participating middle level students have the opportunity to work with a team to build a R.O.V. (remotely operated vehicle). Students will compete in a local competition with the goal of qualifying for the National SeaPerch Competition.

da Vinci Dynamix show choir is an opportunity for students in grades 5-8 to share their vocal/dance talents performing to pop music in local competitions. Practices are after school one night a week from October - March with some breaks. da Vinci Dynamix participated in the De Pere “Let’s Jam” Show Choir Competition in February, 2022 (one of only three Middle School Show Choirs invited to participate in this event). They will also perform at East High for the home concert of Rhapsody in Red. Show Choir is run under the direction of Kevin Flogel.

Leonardo da Vinci's first theatrical production took place in May, 2016.  Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs came to life on the stage with the new sound and lighting system in place. Students in 3rd - 8th grades perfected their acting skills and performed to over 325 guests.

The 2024-25 school year hosted two plays, with the 4th and 5th grade production bringing back Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and the Middle Level production putting on Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
